I have a Dell Inspiron 530 Quad core Q6600 2.4Ghz with 3 gigs of ram and 1TB HD. I had a e_GeForce 8600GT/512MB video card in it that just died. I thought the whole computer died but I found out it was the video card when I pulled it and restarted the computer. I am running Windows 7-32.
I was thinking that I could just upgrade the memory to 8GB and put in a new video card, then upgrade to Windows 7-64 (I already have the software). I shopped around and I think I can get the memory and video card for about $150.
So am I better off getting a new system, like a Dell Inspiron 3000 or just do the upgrade to my current machine? It is used for ordinary home use with the occasional game play. Things like MS Flight Simulator X, or Half Life and such.
Thank you for the input.
