This is my current rig
Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz Quad
8 GB DDR3 RAM
1000GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Graphics Coprocessor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 ti
I want to upgrade to a laptop from IBuyPower. Its the new msi GE72 Apache. It has the new gtx 970m. Is it worth the upgrade or should I just wait?

Solution
The 970m has roughly 20% more power according to Passmark. The real question is, are you wanting as much or more to get the mobility of a laptop, because the upgrade itself will not be substantial. Most look for at least a 50% increase when they upgrade just for the sake of more graphics power. In your case though the upgrade also gives you mobility.

Like Frag said obviously laptop gives you the mobility, but for gaming man that PC is still a beats, just throw in an SSD, upgrade to Windows 10 and get a nice GPU and you are set to game for the next few years.

I use to have a i7-930 PC, i thew SSD into it and my bro has been loving it, does everything you throw at it.

I would suggest upgrading the gtx 750 ti in case you want to increase your gaming performance, but if you tend to move a lot or mobility is a must for you then GE72 Apache is a solid upgrade, other than that I see no point for buying a gaming laptop, if the GTX 750 ti is satisfying you for the time being then wait for a while but it it's not then upgrade it to a R9 390 for example and always check your psu and your case size for fitting in the new card, good luck mate:)
