Hello I’m getting ready to make my first budget pc, so far I have
Asus p8h61 m lx motherboard lga 1155
Gtx 770 sc 2gb
750tx Corsair 80 plus bronze
8 gb Kingston ddr3
500gb wd blue
So far I’ve spent 80$ which I am really proud of, but I don’t know if I should get a Xeon e3 1225, or a i5 2500 I want to be able to run battlefield 1

I'm not sure if that mobo will support that type of xeon
have a look here
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/P8H61-M_LX.html

that being said bf 1 is cpu intensive and needs a strong single score (multiple cpu cores help also obviously)

the i5 2500 would be the better option

BUT

this depends on your availability, but i would get a i5 3470 it is an old but capable cpu and should be cheap
as it is also supported by your mobo

also well done on the parts for 80 bucks man

Thx man I appreciate it, but can I ask what advantage does the i5 3470 have against the i5 2500, excluding the price what are the advantages

Actually Clock speed has shrink a little bit but thanks to the improvements in the architecture it is slightly more capable that 2500 but it's not a huge deal. And also rated power for the 3470 is much lower than 2500 which is good.

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-2500+@+3.30GHz&id=803
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3470+@+3.20GHz&id=822

Why 3470 is better?
Lower Power consumption.
Much newer than the 2500.

True that, i forgot about tdp (power) but i was wrong when i suggested the i5 3470 i meant the i5 3570

I see you're on a strict budget, but you really need to push for a hyperthreaded, i.e., 4core/8thread cpu.
Battlefield will run terribly on a pure quad core, especially if your aim is the multiplayer. If you can find a used I7 2600 or I7 3770 at a good price, things will be much smoother.
You may also be able to save some money with a GOOD quality 600 or 650w power supply(don't cheap out on this, it'll bite ya later) from Seasonic, EVGA, or Corsair.
You don't need a 750w psu on that build, when your total system power won't even exceed 550w.

Thank you so much and to be honest the only reason why I bought the 750tx Corsair psu is because it was 30$, can I ask you if the gtx770 2gb will run battlefield 1 on high?

Oh, well if you got that on sale, then that's not too bad. A 600-650w would've been more anyway.

No, and that's due to the 2GBs of VRAM on the card. That isn't enough anymore for playing higher detail graphics on today's AAA games.
Higher graphics settings require cards with more and more vram. You need a card with 6GBs of vram for high quality graphics - you MIGHT be able to get away with 4GBs, but I'm not sure about that.
For that, an RX 470/570, GTX 970/980. While you may find a good deal on these in the used market, it's riskier than before, due to the gpu mining crapstorm, with some people trying to sell off cards they mined close to death.
I recommend buying a brand new gpu, but I understand if your budget won't allow for it. Just be careful when shopping for used gpus.

I’ll probably sell the EVGA gtx770 2gb sc edition for 160$ and sell my motherboard for 50$ and my 8gb ram ddr3 for 25$, 500gb WD blue for 25$ would that be worth the money I’m asking for or is it to low or to high?

Any i7. That's i7-2600, i7-2600k, i7-2700k, i7-3770, i7-3770k
Any of the early Xeons, E3-1230, E3-1230 v2, E3-1245.

4c/4t simply are not worth the money and literally lose fps in games like the BF series since BF4 first started with multi-core optimization. BF relies on thread count so much, even the FX 8350 was second to the i7's, beating all of the i5's.

Ancient 2GB GTX770 for $160? This is horrible value. Get a brand-new 4GB RX570 for $130-140 or 8GB RX580 for $170-180, far superior. If your board does not support UEFI boot, you may need to use the IGP for boot-time stuff.

Edit: Oops, you wrote you want to sell that GTX770, same thing backward, can't imagine anyone paying $160 used when there are far superior options on the NEW market for similar or less money.

There is always that one person who will buy it but if not then I’ll just auction it up
