Should I upgrade through AMD or scrap everything?

I currently have an FX 6100 and a Radeon 7770 and a 400w PSU. I'd like to make my setup maybe through getting the 8320 and the new 480. This is my mobo I'm not sure if it's good for things like overclocking cause I do not know a lot. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#ov
I was told that I should scrap it and just go straight to an i5 but I'd have to buy a new mobo, cpu, and prob a new PSU. I don't know which I should consider. What I do know is if I scrap and go Intel it'll prob cost a lot. All I wanna do is game and record and edit the vids to post on YouTube.

Well your machine supports the FX 8300 parts:

I'd personally upgrade. I have an FX8320 and whilst it isn't as good as an Intel setup, at 1080p on full settings it maxes out my R9 280 most of the time. To put it another way, I haven't found a game yet I can't play at decent settings.

The RX 480 certainly looks promising (looking forward to benchmarks later this month).

Even a good 400W PSU (what brand and model is yours?) is not going to handle a 480. I've not seen any benchmarks on its power use, but especially with a 125W CPU you'll probably want a 650W PSU; 550W may be enough.
The motherboard you have will support a FX-8350, but right at its limit, which means no overclocking, and maybe not high-stress loads for extended periods.

Uh kinda, essentially I would think you're 7770 is already running at full speed so moving to a faster cpu isn't going to help much in most games- it'l perform about the same.

480 is already confirmed as under 150w (it's only got one 6pin connector), so it probably would work, although agreed that PSU sounds a bit weak. I'd probably upgrade that irrespective of going Intel or AMD for the upgrade.

Your motherboard is good, but you are not advised to pair a FX-8 with it.

It is a moot point, the FX-8 cores are not significantly better than FX-6, just more of them.
They have a typical single thread passmark rating around 1500.
Intel skylake single thread ratings are in the 2000 range.
Few games can actually use more than 2-3 threads.
For multitasking, many threads are good.

What types of games do you play?
sims, strategy and mmo types typically are mostly single threaded and cpu limited.
Fast action shooters are usually dependent on fast graphics.

The 7770 is not a fast card by today's standards.
A 400w psu can support a card like a GTX960 which would be a decent upgrade. Past that, you are looking at a psu change.
Here is a chart for other options:

Well the 'shadow play' feature on current NV gpu's allows pretty much free recording, so you'd probably get away without the cpu upgrade (correct me if I'm wrong here, I haven't tried it)....

If those are the games you want to play, a GTX 960 is probably a good shout. AMD also offer a recording tool which isn't too bad, but I've heard it uses more resources than NV's option currently.

I'm gonna be recording my PC and Xbox gameplay with elgato cause it's super easy. That or I might buy Action!
