I want to upgrade from my very bad i5 650 to a better processor. I thought getting a i7 4790k was a good idea since i didnt want to replace my ram for ddr4 from ddr3 instead i could kd keep my ddr3. Question is, is it good for gaming in 2019? Ill do fine with medium setting i dont mind. Also its hard to find a 1150 mobo. Helpppp

The costs of a 4790K and motherboard to match can't be justified just because you want to keep your DDR3. RAM prices are dropping and supposed to continue down for a few more months. 16GB of DDR4 is around $100. Bite the bullet and do the full upgrade. You can get a middle CPU like a Ryzen 2200g/2400g. You can only postpone the DRAM swap for a short period.

Since 1150 boards are difficult to come by your better off going with Ryzen.
