Should I upgrade to gtx 970...

Would it be a difference if I upgraded from gtx 650 ti boost, and could I handle it?

Specs: 8gb ram
Gtx 650 ti boost (duh)
Intel i5 3330
500W power suplly

Yes you would notice a difference and I think it would be a worthwhile upgrade, however:

1) Wait for more availability of the RX 480 4gb, it will retail around $200 and outperform the 970.
2) A 500w power supply concerns me as a low quality one could not handle either setup properly. Could you tell us the specs of your PSU?

Moving up to a 970 from a 650ti would be worth it, but the 970 is a little strong for the 3330. I would wait until I could upgrade both at the same time, CPU and GPU

I disagree wholeheartedly. The Ivy Bridge i5 can still drive a 970 or RX 480 easily.

You're probably right, but I'm skeptical. Do you have any way of verifying how a 970 does with a 3330?

No. Get rid of the 650ti if you are going to upgrade to the 970.
