I have some questions regarding Windows 8 and whether or not I should upgrade.

1.
Would all my old programs work? Like all my games and stuff. Would there be incompatibility issues?

2.
I use Intel Smart Response Technology. Would that still work?

3.
Are there any advantages for gaming?

4.
Any disadvantages?

Thanks,

EDIT: I am eligible for the $15 upgrade, so the price is irrelevant.

i spent some time on windows 8 now and i have done a little mucking about with it presently at 8.1 you have your choice of tabs or a regular desktop which you still can customize with a few programs i personally use rainmeter with a 3d backdrop with bumptop (not supported no more) but it looks good and im happy start up is getting slower now after using windows 8 for a while i have noticed (as predicted ) but no real problems otherwise all-together i find it smother than xp and 7 as by now i would have come across at least one corruption or driver problem by now thumbs up 8,1

and a p.s
i got my 8.1 update and it was free!.
