I was thinking about upgrading the following but am wondering if I will really be getting anything out of it or is it just a waste of $750.

ASRock Z97 Extreme6
G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB)
i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz

My current configuration

I7 965 extreme edition
12gb tri channel ram
corsair 512 SSD
multiple hard drives
x2 GTX 570 video cards
Asrock X58 Extreme 6

What is your current problem?
For most, the graphics card/s is the most important component of a gaming pc.
Your GTX570 cards are a bit old in the tooth, but still good.
If your problem is a lack of cpu capability for multithreaded apps, then the 4790K is very good.

I might suggest that if you have a $750 itch, and a gaming pc, spend it this way:
i5-4690K
Any z97 motherboard with sli capability.
Use existing ddr3 ram if you can.
See how that does.
Market your old parts on ebay.
Then look at graphics.
If you are gaming on a single monitor,
Look at a single strong graphics card. Probably in the GTX780 or better class.
You will avoid dual gpu issues.

I really don't have a problem with anything yet but their are a lot of games coming out soon that I want to make sure I'm ready for mainly Dragon Age 3 & Witcher 3.

I was more thinking that the X58 chipset is getting pretty old and was wondering if the changes would be worth it or not. Would it be better just to upgrade the video card to a Radeon R9 290 or Radeon R9 290X.
