should i upgrade

i guys..... i have a i7-2600 processor... and motherboard is damaged... so i have planned on buying asrock z77 extreme4 motherboard..... so should i buy this or should i upgrade to 4th or 6th gen processor.......

It's still a good CPU and as long as its not damaged I would just replace the MB if you can find one for a good price.
