Hi everyone i have a pc i7 4790 16gb ddr3 1600 mhz 1 tb sshd z97 guard pro gtx 970 CM v1000 psu bought this pc mid 2015 but immediately skylake dropped and ddr4 came in and now kaby lake are coming. I has made mw pretty depressed that pcs go obsolete so fast. Should i upgrade my built to kaby lake next year or this processor will easily pass me 4 year? If not what upgrades i should make with time?

Solution
you pc is absolutely fine mate, there isn't a need to upgrade until you are unable to play games at the settings and fps you want :)
there's no reason to upgrade.
maybe with intel's new 10nm CPU, but there is a whole Kaby Lake cycle in between
DDR4 offers almost no gains to DDR3, neither does Skylake to Haswell
next thing to upgrade will be you GPU, but there's no rush for that either. upgrading to the directly following generation is hardly worth it in most cases.
if you're not using a SSD so far, get a SSD
