I was having some problems a bit ago and I ended up fixing it by just adding 8gb more of ram setting me at 16gb and cleaning out my PC of dust.

I currently have a gtx770 which I guess you could say is pretty old now, I was thinking of upgrading up to a 1070 or something around there to get better FPS on games like arma3 and others.

Do you guys think I should go and upgrade or do you think this graphics card could last me a bit more ? How long if so ? If I do end up upgrading will I need to get a new CPU and motherboard so it's not bottlenecked ?

Yeah, Arma 3 has always been a bit of a pain to run. You would definitely see a huge improvement in performance in that game with a 1070 - but is any game worth a $400 upgrade by itself?

You could probably get by on a 770 for another 2 or 3 years before your quite literally forced to upgrade to play new games at a decent framerate with...
You have a solid gaming system that would definitely match nicely with a 1070, so no need to upgrade any other parts but the GPU. The GPU upgrade alone would give you a huge boost in gaming performance.

As for whether you should do it or not; only you can really decide.

Ask yourself this:

1) Can I afford it? - A 1070 will set you back $400-$450 depending on model. Thats a fairly pricey card. Is that something you can do without too much of a problem?

2) Do I feel that my games need the extra boost? - Are you fed up of low fps or having to turn off nice graphical settings? Or are you happy with what you have already?

3) Are there games on the horizon that I really want to play? - If so, chances are they'll need a little bit more power to run properly.

If the answers to the above are yes; then you should probably go for it. If not, then maybe give it another year and see how the market looks then.

You need to upgrade only if you find performance of your system unsatisfying. And yes upgrade to gtx 1070 will give you better fps. Don't worry about any bottlenecks your cpu and mobo are still very capable.

The game that really bothers me is Arma 3 I don't see much of a problem with any other games. I might just stay with this for a bit longer. How long do you think I could go with this build before a upgrade.

Also I was thinking of getting a new CPU Fan like a aftermarket fan do you think that would be a good idea ? I could get one for christmas, I am just running a OEM fan at the moment.

You could probably get by on a 770 for another 2 or 3 years before your quite literally forced to upgrade to play new games at a decent framerate with medium-low graphics settings. However, I'd say you've probably got 1-2 years before it starts to become an irritation.

If I were in your situation, I'd probably hang on till this time next year and save up until then.

As for your CPU cooler; you dont technically NEED one, as your on a non-overlclockable CPU/motherboard. So the stock cooler is designed to be able to handle whatever you use it for at stock settings.

However, picking up a cheap but reliable cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo would be a nice little upgrade that would make a huge difference to the temperature of your CPU (and therefore its lifespan).
