Hello I was wondering if I should upgrade from a GTX1080 to maybe a 1080Ti or RTX2080. Im playing games like Assassins Creed Odyssey and I have around 60 FPS at Very High. My GPU is at 100% usage and my CPU starts out at 100 and deviates between 50 to 100 during gameplay. That means my GPU is bottlenecking right? If I upgrade now I feel like my CPU (I7-8700) would end up bottlenecking my PC which I think is pretty bad.

Solution
Mhm alright thanks for the help. By the way, which GPU should I get when the prices drop? The 2080?
It's really up to the amount of money you are willing to spend. If you have the money, I would recommend getting the 2080 over the 2070. Even though there isn't a lot of a difference in performance between the two, the 2080 would last you a little longer than the 2070. Games are going to start to be getting a lot more performance hungry and the 2080 will probably give you a bit more use out of it before you have to upgrade again to keep up with all the crazy performance settings. Hope this helps!

I can wait but wouldnt they cost alot more? Or do you mean stuff like the 3070 would be at the same performance as like a 2070 super etc while being cheaper so I should wait? The prices are kind of an issue for me.

I mean that you will be able to get the 2000-series for cheaper when the 3000-series drops.

If money is an issue then i'd absolutely wait a couple months and grab a 2080 when they are cheaper.

You shouldn't be bottle necking and I don't think you are bottle necking. Back to the original question though, it isn't worth buying the 1080 Ti for the couple of % difference in performance, you would be better off waiting for the 3000 series so that the 2000 series price drops a bit if you have the money for it. Hope this helps!
