I currently have an Asus P4P800 Dlx mb, 2.8c P4, 1 gb PC3200 RAM and ATI X800 Pro. Would I gain any noticeable difference upgrading to an XP64 cpu? I was thinking about the 3500 for overclocking or would it be better just to buy the 3800? I mainly use my system for playing games. Thanks for any comments.

Personally I don't think there's any point to upgrading. It would be a virtually unnoticeable increase over what you already have.

If you're hungering for more performance, you could overclock your current CPU - 3.4Ghz is pretty realistic with that setup, although faster RAM would help.

You might notice some difference, but not enough to justified the high price with the 3500+ or3800+.

But if you want to try something else, like Windows XP64 bits and all the beta drivers for it (and the fun that goes with beta software), then an A64 3200+ or even a 3000+ with a good socket 754 board could give you a little boost in game without breaking too much your budget.

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

No need to upgrade
