Should I use my A40 MixAmp with my Soundblaster Z?

Title says it all. I have the Gen-2 Astro A40 and the SoundBlaster Z. I am curious as to if it is redundant to use both the mixamp and the soundcard. I have been using the optical port to connect my mixamp to the soundcard; and honestly when I unplug the mixamp and just use the headphone port, it doesnt seem that much different. However I would like your guys opinion!

We'd need a little more info than one one line and 4 words. What sort of a headphone/headset are you working with? If the A40 Mixamp you have is Gen2 then it's designed to run off your desktop/laptop's USB port and an available optical output port though the Soundblaster Z's maximum audio output is 5.1 and not 7.1.

I sure am using the Gen 2! Sorry for the little detail. I am just curious if the mixamp is considered to be redundant. I dont really notice a difference, but I would like the best option possible!
