Currently upgraded to gtx 1080 ti from my 2 gtx 970. I removed both of them when I upgraded, but should I have kept one of them to use for physx or something?

Solution
Nope, Using a dedicated card for PhysX is a thing of the past. Using one now will likely reduce frames significantly in games, holding back your 1080 ti. Linus made a video on it if you're interested.

You should sell them. There is a classified section here on Tom's. Some 970 owners may be interested in SLI or some others may be interested in upgrading. Originally they were selling for over $300. I know because I own a 970 FTW from EVGA. These days they are fetching as little as $150. Sad really, but expected.

Actually I don't totally agree. While if you don't have a good card for physx it will hold back your primary (in this case your GTX 1080 Ti) if you do have a good card it will increase your FPS. However there are some caveats. Like what resolution are you gaming at? If 4K yeah its worth it...if 1080P it's not really. 1440P is a little more fuzzy. Since you have the card for 1440P and above it be worth it. I run a gtx 1050 Ti for physx and get a benefit in almost every game supported...batman arkham knight for example gives me 5-10FPS more then running it on the primary gtx 1080. MKX i get roughly the same...bordlands titles though the difference is moot because the graphics settings are so light being cell shaded.

Well I was gaming at 1080p because of the 2 970 but with the 1080ti I can utilize my 1440p res on my monitor now. Anyways I live in Canada and I ain't really sure on selling stuff online and mailing stuff, so if I do sell, i'll probably sell locally on craigslist. But yeh I am really sad, paid full price getting them 2 years ago and now they are only worth half the price : (. I also have the evga 970 ftw but it's the original, didn't want to pay the extra to send it in to get the updated version.

Hmmmmmmm. That's disappointing. If I purchased it it would end up being more expensive than a new 1060. I'd hold on to one just in case the 1080Ti ever has a bad day... I even have a 1000+ title anime(movies and series) library. Your card has probably seen its fair share. But, no reason to be sad. You have upgraded and will hopefully find one of those 970 FTWs a new loving home. It's a good day.
