Should I remove the thermal paste the comes with the Corsair H100i Pro and use aftermarket thermal paste? Or should I just leave it alone? Is there any performance difference between those methods and if so by how much on a i7 7700K? Thanks!

Solution

So between the included Corsair paste, and the MX-4, there was a 1C difference.
33.4 vs 32.4.

I'd just use what is on there, unless I already had something better laying around.

What are the 2 thermal paste you are comparing? Without the details, it is a coin flip. So did you get a AIO just so you can take a coin flip at getting that last 2C temperature reduction? If you care enough that it bothers you, then you should figure out what the specs of your thermal paste.

I don't have the same CPU as you so I don't know however out of all the thermal paste I have used before, the Arctic MX 4 was one of my better choices.

I have 3 corsair coolers 2x h110i- 1 h100iv2 all 3 had the factory paste wiped off and cleaned 2-3 times with at least 70% isopropyl (90% is best) then Thermaltake Tg 7 thermal paste used my temps on my ryzen 2600x with h110i runs 76c running prime95 small fft's
Over a 8-10 hr run.
Read on the pastes some have cure times.
The tg 7 can be purchsaed from most best buy's for around 10.00 usd.
I have seen better temps with tg 7 then IC DIAMOND or Artic Silver 5 on my 3 system's.

So there is only a 1C difference? I thought it would be more than that. Are you sure about that number?
