I have just bought an Asus M5A78L-M LX V2 which supports AM3+ processors. My question is whether i should wait for steamroller or buy a FX 8320 or FX 8350? I read somewhere that steamroller will based on AM3+ socket type... Please help

You should return the board and get a proper motherboard with 8x2 power phase control. This board is inadequate to handle the heat of an 8 core cpu period, unless you do not overclock at all.

Ignore Kratosbellic's incorrect information. AMD said steamroller is on schedule and the FX version is due in the 4th quarter. That would mean October or November., since they would never release a chip in December. It would be too late for Christmas purchase by then.

I guess it will if it has a 900 series chipset. The 900 series chipsets are 990FX, 990X, and 970. It should at least ahve a 970 chipset. Check in the manufacturers description of the features and under details. Once again do NOT attempt to overclock a 970 chipset board with 4x2 phase control. If it has 6x2 phase control you can have a mild overclock. If it is FX-8350 with 4.0 GHZ default frequency you could clock it safely to 4.4 GHZ. If it is an FX-8320 with default frequency of 3.4 GHZ you can safely go to 3.8GHZ.

My motherbord(Asus M5A 78L- M LX v2) has 760G chipset but still the CPU support list says that it supports CPUs upto FX 8350(125 W). But you said that it would only support FX 8350 or FX 8320 on if it has 9XX chipset.....

If it states support for FX-8350 try it. That circuitry and chip set are going to be be a continuing challenge for you.. Also You will definitely NOT be able to run steamroller on that chip set. . Take my word for it , it will be challenging. I see posts all the time for these type of boards in the forums with complaints about them and their inability to get stability .
