my old CPU recently has been lacking on speed because it's a ryzen 5 1600x for streaming and I think I will go more high-end next time but should I wait to see if the new ryzen 3 series or should I just get a ryzen 7 1700x.

A 1700x is not going to be better for you. If a 1600x can't get the job done then a 1700x is not going to be much better. What are you doing exactly, perhaps your problem is not the cpu. A ryzen 1600x should EASILY be able to push say a say a 1070 while also streaming at the same time. 6 core 12 thread, you shouldn't be having issues.

Don't buy a new board the one you have should work. Wait for ryzen 3 and then buy the chip, see how it performs compared to the others with a newer board. If you are within 10% then don't bother with a board until the money is not an issue.

Tell is what you are doing and the problems. I am really surprised this cpu is not enough. It can be anoth3r issue leading you to think it's the cpu. Are you gaming and streaming while checking your cpu usage via afterburner or something and notice that it's constantly at 100% and having issues? Have you tested to know 100% for sure it's the cpu?

That cpu isn't even that old, it came out less than 24 months ago. It's actually still a very commonly used gaming / streaming cpu. My 2600 does both with no issues and it's not much better than a 1600x
