Question Should I wait for ryzen 3000 or buy Ryzen 5 2600?

My main priority is Gaming and Editing videos,Watching Movies and stuff...

I wanted to go for Intel i5 9400f which is 25% less price than ryzen 5 2600 but only thing that concerns me is the poor multi thread/tasking with Intel which everyone says is not a good idea to go for Intel over Ryzen(Dilemma).

The new Ryzen 3000 is coming soon, almost waited for 3months now and will be having higher price than 2nd gen ryzen which is already at high price than i5 9400f.. That higher clock speed on ryzen 3000 definately will require a aftermarket cooler to keep the temps low atleast here in my hot place...

So confused..
If I go for ryzen 2600 ,will I regret it later not going for ryzen 3600? Or I regret spending 25% more price for ryzen 2600 over Intel i5 9400f ?
I just want to save few bucks to get the RTX 2060 instead of 1660 ti,this only happens of I pick Intel over Ryzen..

Guys help me clear my mind.

Since you have waited this long I would just wait another month or two and see how low the Ryzen 5 2600/2600x or Ryen 7 2700/2700x prices drop again after the Ryzen 3000's get released.

I personally have a Ryzen 5 2600 OC'd to 3.95 GHz that I bought back in November 2018.
I'm really happy with it so far, I have a MSI 1660 Ti Armor.
But, I'm hoping that the 2700 price will drop enough so I can sell my 2600 and get a 2700 in a few months.
More performance is always a good thing IMO. ;)

Also I read an article saying that the AMD RX 3080 XT will be released soon for $330 and provide similar performance to the 2070.
You might want to look into that as an alternative GPU.

Some rumors here say there will hardly any price drop for 2nd gen ryzen proc..And also there are few says the price of 3600 will be close to 2600x.(probably due too much hype'of 7nm and poor Intel )

Navi market launch was around end of Q3.
Showcasing and releasing date into market will take some time, right?

AMD unlike Intel continually drops prices with scheduled releases, they tend to monitor supply and adjust prices accordingly months in advance. Will you see a huge price drop on 2000 series CPU's? Probably not more like a $10-$15 decrease since they have taken a pretty step price cut since release.

10-15$ drop is not a big deal I guess..
I5 9400f is 55-60$ cheaper than ryzen 5 2600 here. But the difference gain in multi threading is like 40% towards ryzen 2600.
Choosing ryzen, have to spend more. If going for Intel then losing multi thread performance.

i would suggest you wait, intel or AMD both are likely to launch much better chips.
-and since you say you will be editing videos get AMD not intel, in gaming things which AMD lacks it make up with its price. also 2600 got 6C,12T and i5 9400 got 6C,6T, r5 2600 is also unlocked.
-and idk if you should get RTX card now, atleast wait till end of this year if enough games actually use the ray tracing thing, otherwise there is really not a point of getting RTX card, its like getting a mobile which support 5g.. as of now there are like 6games which use Ray tracing, rest dont.
- also 2600 comes with a decent cooler , if you not planning to overclock it you really dont need an aftermarket cooler.

I'm not into ray tracing. I wanted 2060 just because of its 5-10fps gain over 1660 ti.It will make difference in upcoming games where a little higher fps will make the game smooth..Just to be future proof.

My pc died 3 months ago. Been waiting for the ryzen 3000 since then.I guess I had to wait 1 more month.[/QUOTE]

wait.it'll be extremely powerful and the pricing will be around the same as the last ones. and those will be cheaper

Intel might launch some new socket 2066 monstrosities, but, I suspect the 'mainstream desktop' (Z390) folks are likely to be waiting quite a while...(I've not yet even heard any rumors of yet another fall refresh for CoffeeLake+++)

even if there were some surprise/super secret 10 core 9950K waiting in the wings behind closed doors in limited stockpiles, it's going to be a hard sell against what will likely be a Ryzen 3000 onslaught this summer. With Intel's desktop 10nm rumored to be delayed until 2021, I don't think yet another 14 nm refresh is going very far. With Intel 5 GHz already here, how much is left as a potential flagship replacement for the 9900K? Some new 10000K at 5.1 GHz turbo perhaps?)

I predict this CPU will be an epic fail. The 9900k is already so hot and power hungry I can't imagine this thing coming anywhere near 5ghz all core. Maybe with a custom loop. It looks more and more like intel 10nm won't be suitable for desktop.
