I recently purchased an AMD 6000+,ATI 4870,4GB Ram,ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe.

I also just recently found out about the Phenoms, and have been hearing that the X2s are out of date.

I'd really not like to dish out another $170 at the moment to get a Phenom..
Will the CPU do ok? Or should i really look at upgrading ASAP?
Thanks

6000+ should still be good enough to not bottleneck in most games. Forget Phenoms. The fastest Phenom (9950be) performs below oldest Intel quad (q6600) while costing slightly more, has TDP of 140w instead of 95w, and don't overclock nearly as well. Absolutely pathetic. Skip it and wait for AMD's next generation.

Then you are not serious about getting the best performance!
If you don't want to waste money, do more research before buying! :non:
As dagger says, what you have is about the best AMD offer, as the Phenom is like the Intel Prescot... Too hot and not that good.

The x2 6000+ isnt the fastest chip by far but it shouldnt cause any bottlenecks to your system. i would wait and see when the next gen. of cpus come out and see what they offer. intel obviously has the lead at the moment but no one knows what may happen in the next round. (not a fanboy, i just like the competition. it helps keeps the price down.) I mean look at ati vs. nvidia. nvidia used to be top dog a year ago, but i think ati has fought back very well with the 4800 line.(got gpus from both companys, again not a fanboy) who knows maybe ati will take it to them this time. Again i say wait and see what happens. Either way good luck in your decesion.
