Should I wait?

I am going to buy a PC in march, and I am thinking about buying the new Ryzen 1700X. But I am wondering if some of you know how long I most probably have to wait if I want to make a PC with a new Intel-prossesor.

Intel is not coming out with any new processors till much later this year or early next year. Their newest Kabylake processors just came out a few months ago.

The next generation Cannonlake CPus are supposed to be a very minor upgrade so I would not wait 10 months for them.

Whetehr AMD Ryzen is a good buy or not we can not tell you until thursday when real benchmarks on the retail CPUs can be done (not the demo ones AMD had tested)

Wait, what? Wasn't Cannonlake supposed to be built on 10mm architecture?
And also, Intel will release a few new CPUS with very small, insignificant clock speed increases.

Guess "minor" was a bit more of a downplay then intended. Thay are switching to 10nm and will see slighly higher boost then skylake to kabylake, but doesnt sound like too much more.

Bottom line would not wait 10 months for a hopefull 15% improvement.

Then again, Broadwell was their last die shrink, and didn't bring huge gains from Haswell either.

Yeah, that's true, haswell-skylake difference is less than 10%.
