I'm using an i7 8700 with the trash stock cooler. Temps hit 80-90 C at 65% gaming load and 100 C when i render videos so i'm planning to get an after market cooler in like 2 weeks. Meanwhile i tried disabling turbo boost so i can keep the temps in check until i get a cooler. I don't see a dip in performance in terms of gaming and a lil extra video rendering time which i don't mind but XTU says it is power limit throttling i kind of understand why but is it fine to just use my pc that way? Would there be any consequences if i use it like that for a long time?
