Should IP ban be illegal?

If browsing for the question you will find out that is actually legal, and it is illegal to try to avoid it. But i have another point.

When we connect to a server providing a service, we connect to it by using many other servers run by others ISPs.

Noways many companies use a server service provider rather than buying their own server. This server might host different services from different companies.

Let's pretend someone gets an IP ban from a forum, the typical moderator who just ban users for fun,

Now i don't care about this forum, not this one, i mean the one in the example, the IP ban does not prevent one computer to avoid the access to that service, but it prevent many different IPs often from the same ISP to access to that service.

In easy words, we have server A, server B, server C and IP1 and IP2.

IP1 has been banned by server B i'm using IP2 from server C, but to get to server A i need to pass server B, there the problem starts.

Now i'm trying to connect to a server that provides a service, i cannot do it because someone has been IP banned and we are using the same ISP and the same servers to connect. So the IP ban someone got is creating me a disservice.

Don't you think that IP banning should be illegal or to avoid.

I'm not good at networking, but i know this is the way it works, if not comment. Thanks.

ISp are not required to provide service to anyone, anymore than you get refused service while trying to get into a corner store without a shirt or shoes on. isp's are businesses, and therefore allowed to choose whom and what they provide.

That said. IP get banned rarely for the very reason you mentioned.

When a forum banns a user they ban the user account associated with the IP address
Gaming providers ban the serial number/user account.

but no one is prevented to ban an IP if they so choose. (often done when a number of various IP from one location has been detected to be attempting Ip[ attacks to the server itself. then usually that IP gets banned and loosing the few possible users from that IP range is usually not noticeable.
