Hello, I know nothing about Macs and I don't have the same user behavior as my friend so I was hoping to describe what he does and get your opinion on him switching to Mac OS. I have heard that Macs are safer because they are targeted less (smaller user base, why waste time targeting them, etc) and I have no idea if it is true but he only has his computer for high risk behavior. I do not watch porn tube sites, I do not connect to public sharing networks and download music, nor do I use torrents. Also I know how to fix my computer. From a computer standpoint my friend is the complete opposite of me. He does all of those things and when I told him to stop he said that is the only thing he uses his computer for so why own one. I did not have a response.

I know your initial reaction will be to say he deserves what he gets because of his degenerate computer behavior but THINK OF ME! I'm sure many of you have been me. I'm the one fixing the computer when he messes it up. And he is cool- on anything not technology related.

Your opinions are greatly valued! I meant it. Thanks in advance! Please respond :(

It is true that there are less viruses for MAC type computers.
It is also true that programs that come out for PC usually take a lot longer to come out for MAC, if they do at all.
I would suggest you have him stay with PC and get one of those year contracts with one of those anti-virus places that has full support and constant monitoring type setup.

and C'mon guys, we all know that the government made the internet to spread pron around the world to later take over and easily elect a king of the world named something like "Bruce Longjohnson" :p

Rather than switch platforms, I would teach him how to back up the things that really matter to him on something like a Passport (stand alone external disk drive that can be unplugged from the computer) and then make a disk for him that will re-image his hard drive back to a clean state. Of course virus software will help, but it won't protect against everything. Also, as a MAC user and a PC user, I can tell you that MAC's still get hit especially doing the things you describe.
