Question Should panel type be a deal breaker for me in a laptop?

I'm mostly going to be using it for gaming, so does panel type matter? It's apparently an "LED backlit" display. And I couldn't be confused more on what that means. I've read and heard that IPS is like the best panel type, but I really don't understand why? I would really appreciate it if you could answer my question and explain to me the difference between the two, please.
