Should this PC work ok

Just built my new PC

Asus sabertooth 990 fx motherboard
Corsair cx 600w psu
Corsair vengeance ram 8GB
Fx 4130 processor
Xfx r9 290 boost edition 4GB

The reason I ask is since upgrading my graphics from a Radeon had 5870 to the above graphics card my PC seems to be struggling performance wise

Why did you choose such a weak CPU? I would Have picked at least a fx6300 along with your other, quite high End parts

Was told by a friend to get this CPU you think fx 6300 would solve lagging in my games. (Don't have huge knowledge with pc's)
