Question Should we install CPU if we want to update the BIOS?

i'm planning to upgrade my rig to AMD system with Ryzen 3000 (zen2) , but if i buy the B450 chipset which is will be upgrade-able to the upcoming latest Ryzen CPUs.. is it necessary to install CPU first or without it when updating the BIOS?

Currently i have an intel System

While there are some mobos that can be flashed without a CPU they are very rare,with almost every mobo you will need a CPU that is already compatible with the mobo to upgrade the bios.

Upgrade BIOS first, while you still have a CPU that works on this mobo. Then just swap CPUs later.

So basically if i installed on the B450, that 3000 Series cannot be powered on?

If you're doing a whole system change, don't buy a motherboard that does not work with the desired CPU right out of the box.
