Question Should we worry about RAM QVL in 2024 - - I'm a bit worried about buying a 32GB kit for an Asus B660M A D4 ?

minutes away from buying, but before just making sure with you guys, i discovered gskill has a page with their own compatiblity list wich is better than the one from Asus because they had some tested rams that werent in the asus page, however didnt see the compatibility list for (32GVKCF4-3600C16D-32GVKC) this specific kit i want to get, 3600 c16, i found in the compatibility the 3200 c16 one F4-3200C16D-32GVK wich is the other one Gskill is selling, you have those both being the main ones, currently running a kit 2x8 crucial ballstix black 3600 c16 with XMP enabled with no issues so i know it does support those timings and speed but should i get the 3200 and set for lower speeds than i have today but be "sure it should work" or get the 3600 c16 ones?

So, that kit is not compatible with that board according to G.Skill and if they say it isn't compatible when 3600MT/s kits ARE listed on the left side filter selections, then it isn't based on their testing. Based on their testing, NONE of the 3600MT/s kits they sell are compatible with that board OR they simply didn't do any testing of 3600MT/s kits.

Corsair also does not show any 3600MT/s kits that are compatible with that board, which says that the design and configuration of that board most likely simply doesn't play well with high speed kits without significant trial and error and tweaking of settings, which most people are not want to do. If you choose to do so, you are likely rolling the dice on the idea that you'll be able to. And it might also simply be that at the time they stopped validating existing kits for that board they just didn't HAVE any 3600MT/s kits available at that time to validate on it and especially for cheaper boards they tend to not revisit that later when those kits become widely available, so it could be that one of them will work but again you'll be rolling the dice.

Crucial also doesn't show any.

The QVL DOES show some 3600MT/s kits for Corsair, Crucial and G.Skill, as well as many other brands, so if you must have a 3600MT/s kit I would probably recommend sticking to one of those.

i already bought that kit and will run it that way if it doesnt work then i may just not activate xmp and so be it... but the current kit i have it does work like that 3600 c16 so i know the board handles it with no issues but when arrives ill tell you.

Well, if it doesn't want to run at the XMP configuration settings there are a few things that can be done and it is much the same as overclocking memory in that adjustments to DRAM voltage, and a few other settings, some of which are actually categorized as CPU voltage settings, can often fix that.

Hi, i got the rams today, took some time, i put them both there and at stock XMP 3600 C16 they were giving multiple Blue screens.... i manually set the XMP to 3200mhz c16 and stopped doing that, voltage is 1.35, i also did the memory test, took 30 min at that configuration with no issues... im not really that bothered for the little perf im losing id rather have stability but if there is anything i can try i will.

You can try the steps outlined in the "Setting up XMP, AMP or DOCP profiles" section of my memory troubleshooting guide found here:

Since XMP, D.O.C.P, AMP, A-XMP and EXPO profiles in fact ARE "overclocking", you can use the same procedures found in the guide for attempting to stabilize unruly XMP configurations. I'd recommend first making certain you have the MOST up to date motherboard BIOS installed first, then reset the BIOS (Whether you update it or not) do default settings. Then save, restart, back into BIOS, set XMP and manually raise the DRAM (Memory) voltage by .005-.020v (Whatever is the lowest increment it will allow you to make changes as) then save, restart and test. If no love, add another .005-.020v DRAM voltage until you are either seeing full stability with zero Memtest 86 errors for four full passes of all 11 tests (Test procedure also found in my memory guide) or you reach 1.4v at which time you can pretty well assume it's not going to stabilize at that speed using voltage adjustments only and then decide to either live with the 3200MT/s speed or move on to making further adjustments to the timings and memory related CPU voltage settings.

hi, for whatever reason i just did 3600 again after being 2hs at 3200 and then worked... been playing Rocket League for 2 hours without issues, tested the ram again no issues either... im gonna stay like this for some time IF i get some random crashes i may just live with 3200mhz to avoid headaches. i will update if i get random crashes and live with 3200, thank for the help.

Rocket league really isn't a valid test. Use the usb bootable option of memtest64+. This is a free memory testing software that will test the limits. If it can pass all the tests at some memory settings no actual software will cause issues. Generally unless you think you have a bad memory module a single pass is fine. You could run it all night if you wanted to be really sure.
