My PSU has over power protection, over-temperature protection, and over current protection and strict voltage regulation (<2%). is this enough to protect my pc parts if a power surge occurred? I'm worried because my toaster PC that ran for 10 years straight was fried due to a power surge and I finally decided to build a semi-decent rig and I'm worried about another power surge killing my PC

btw my PSU is a Thermaltake GF1 650W 80+ gold sli

Solution
Yes. For $20 or less for a >2000J protector, it's a small price to pay.

I have this one which has a master/slave function. When I hit the power button on my tower, my monitors and speakers come on automatically. When I shut down, those components turn off automatically.
