Question Should you focus on peak tempatures or average tempatures?

Hello! I use HWiNFO to track my temps, and I get peak tempatures around 80c - 87c under load with averages around 50 - 60c. I tend to leave my computer on/HWiNFO running for multiple days at a time, and sometimes I'll see a peak of 90c, sometimes overnight when the PC has just been resting.

Should I be concerned with peak temps or should i be focusing on the averages?

I would look at averages more. It shows what the majority of the CPU is doing, it doesn't just track the hottest one core.

its more important to know what total is rather than one spike.

I do on my Ryzen as the peak often shows about 64c but average of all cores is only 40c. Nothing to worry about.

I don't know about Intel but I track core temps which appears to be an average of all my cores

I run hwinfo all the time. Some of this might help - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/how-to-use-hwinfo-to-track-sensor-values-on-ryzen.3693704/
