Shrouds

I have been looking at various 200-240ish dollar graphics cards, mainly the 660 and 7870. I watched a newegg vid on the 660, and he guy made a point of the shrouds on the gpus. If I am right, an enclosed shroud will have higher gpu temps, but will keep the rest of the system more cool, but if I get something like a twin frozr, it is not enclosed. That should keep the gpu cooler, but the rest of my system will have to deal with the warm air being ejected into the case. I want to know if I get a shroud gpu or a more open style gpu. I do plan on overclocking a bit on my gpu and cpu (i5-3570k), and either sli or crossfir in the future to keep up with games. Any input would be great.

go for the frozr edition you can always upgrade your case and get extra fans. if needed

So ur saying the lack of airflow from the gpu out of the case should be easy to compensate for with extra case fans? Because if I get the his iceQ, it has good thermals, and is enclosed. Or should I stick with something like the frozr or windforce, and deal with the heat with more fans

more fans should increase airflow right? if you are really worried you can always water cool also depends on your enviroment

if you have vents at the top they would be useful for expelling hot air, side fans help increase intake

You are extremely over thinking this. the air coming of a none reference gpu cooler is not that hot. yes it is hotter then ambient and is probably around 35-40*c but just put a exhaust fan right beside it on the side panel of the case. you get the best of both worlds. you get a faster gpu and still cool case temps

Im still going with the iceq, it is cheaper than the frozr, or else I would get that, and ill do th fan thingy.
