I was upgrading to Windows 11 last night, it was at 98% but taking so long and I had to sleep so I turned my pc off by selecting Shut Down.

Today I boot and it boots to a black screen with a single line in the top left corner.
Holding the power button to shut down doesn't work.

What's happened?

Insert your install media. Go to the advanced option and delete all partitions to unallocated and start the process again.

Unhook any drive you do not want OS on, or even page files and such.
I was updating from Win 10 to 11 using the installation program, does that change anything?

I don't want to delete any files I had.

Yes, it does. Did you have a backup of those files? Without professional intervention, at this point, they are most likely gone.

If you have a caddy or enclosure you can put the drive in, you might be able to attach it as an external drive to another PC and see what is there. This may be foiled by access permissions since it was the OS of another PC.

Seems after restarting twice, my PC launched perfectly fine into Windows! Will update if anything has gone wrong.
