Shut off during windows update, doh

Hi all

Have an HP elitebook 2740p

Accidentally powered off during windows update. Laptop will not power up and the power icon just slowly flashes. No reponse from f8 and screen just black.

Any options other that taking to a shop for repair, do not have any recovery disks?
