Update: I let my pc cool off for an hour, I now have a big fan next to it giving off cold air, it has made the spot where my pc is very cool, I also disabled all my LED lights on my GPU and my RAM, Im just doing all this out of fear that my pc will start dying with overheating, please let me know if any of this will help or if its all just bad ideas from fear.

Update: My CPU Temps are 29C min, 30C max, My GPU Temps are 36C min, 36C max, motherboard temps are within 29C min to 32C max, these are all my temperatures at idle, is this bad or good?, Also something to point out, at idle both my GPU fans are at 0 RPM..therefore not running, is this normal?, I apologize if these are too many questions or too much imformation, I just love my pc and im worried about it dying on me.

Hello all, This is my first ever thread so apologies if its setup weird

This problem just began today when my computer would just shut down while playing The Witcher 3, I thought it was my outlet being weird but boy was I wrong, I picked up my computer and took it out to the table after a burning scent was coming from the inside. I oppened up my side panels and touched my GPUs backplate, it was hot to the touch, but nowhere near as bad as my PSU, My PSU smelled burned, very hot to the point I freaked out, it was way too hot. I will admit, my computer is in a weird spot, next to a heater vent(although the vent doest work so im not sure if its a problem). But the thing is I have never had this problem until I started with witcher 3 for hours. If it helps, here is my build.

Nzxt S340 Case
Ryzen 5 1600
EVGA Gtx 1070 FTW 2
8GB RAM GSkill RGB - 1Module
B350 ASUS Strix Motherboard
650 Watt Corsair PSU
3 TB HardDrive

I cool my CPU with the stock cooler that comes with ryzen 5 1600, I only use the two case fans that come with my S340, Thats it for cooling my system. I have never messed with my fan speed so idk at what % they are running while gaming(although my pc runs awfully quiet while playing witcher 3 at very high graphics, seems like my fans are running way too quiet to me).

I just recently(1 month ago) switched from a ZOTAC mini gtx 1060 3gb and from a 600 WATT evga psu to the gpu and psu listed in my build, I never had a problem with the gtx 1060 although i never played witcher 3 on it, and I also never had this problem with my new build up to now when I play witcher 3 for hours and my pc overheats like crazy and shuts off, Can anyone please give me any tips to how I can stop this overheating, is my cooling too low for my gpu?, play in lower graphics?, Please help, I love witcher 3 but i cant risk overheating until I solve this, I cannot play it for now.

Its sitting on the floor of my room, wood floor, Im not sure if the airflow is being blocked but I will admit, when I was doing cable management I tucked a bunch of PSU cables in the basement the NZXT S340 supplies me with, the cables are all kind of crammed next to the power supply. I read that I should have my PSU fan facing downwards since my case has a bbq looking rail at the bottom(a dust filter I believe), so I made the fan from the PSU face towards it. Not sure if that was a wrong move.

CORSAIR CX-M Series CX650M 650W 80 PLUS BRONZE Haswell Ready ATX12V & EPS12V Semi-Modular Power Supply(looked it up on my newegg orders)

Yes, the fan needs to be facing down for airflow into the PSU.

What PSU is it?

Do you think the tucked in extra cables hurt the airflow on it?, I've been running my pc for 30 mins now on idle and seems to be no hot air coming from it anymore, but when I was playing witcher 3 earlier it was very hot when it shut off.

Its a CORSAIR CX-M Series CX650M 650 WATT 80Plus Bronze

Sounds like the PSU is getting ready to go to me if it's getting that hot.

THE BEST thing to do is get a new higher quality PSU and don't do any sort of gaming until the new one comes in.

I would tell you to take out the GPU also, but you are running an AMD machine so that means no onboard graphics.

It does sound like it would make sense if it was my old PSU, which was 2-3 years old, but I don't understand in this case, I ordered this PSU on 11/24/17, its hardly a month old 🙁

Well I haven't actually payed any attention to the filter since the 20 days I got it from, Im going to check on it now, maybe 20 days of not checking on it has accumulated a lot of dust, I have a very dust heavy room.
Not any mayor dust caught up on the dust filter.. I'm just not sure why such a new PSU, 20 days old is getting so hot like that..
