I recently got my iMac repaired since the operating system was corrupt and it kept shutting down, so I had to perform the first time startup again. I had to shut it down for (reasons) but there is no option to do so on the screen so I just used the power button. I'm a bit worried that this damaged my computer and I don't want the same problem that made me have to repair it to occur again.

Did it damage anything, why or why not?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Also the hard drive has nothing on it because it had to be wiped of all its contents.

Solution
If the "Shutdown" option is missing from the Apple menu you should contact the repair shop who installed the OS. Something is wrong.

Shutting down via the power button is unlikely to do harm, but is not recommended.
