HI
I have a core i5 2400 PC with 8GB ram, so the windows shuts down in about 4 to 5 seconds, but the computer stays on for about 20 to 25 seconds. Why does it do this? Isn't their any way to make it turn off faster?
Thanks.

Solution
It is probably storing data for use in startup during that extra time. 8 uses an abbreviated form of Hibernate to facilitate a fast boot. You can turn it off easily enough, but it will increase your boot time.
To turn off
Winkey plus X
Select Command Prompt (Admin)
Type powercfg hibernate off

Substitute 'on' for 'off' to re-enable

Otherwise if you are running Windows on an HDD consider an SSD to improve boot/shutdown times, and if you can't be bothered using the 'Charms' menu to shut down, there are alternatives...
