Shutting down with games/apps running

So I had a game open but my monitor turned off, (Don't ask why I just did) and later on I just pressed my power button (physical one) to sleep or at least i thought it would sleep my pc, it was set to shut down when i pressed it. I am worried this maybe screwed up my game or something, does this count as a force shutdown or is it just set as shutting down and windows automatically closes down all the processes before turning the pc off?

Dont worry too much about it, just worry if anything is overheating and that caused it to turn off..

It's safe to turn off computers these days with the power button, all applications will be forced to close before it powers down. Any unsaved progress in game or application will have been lost.
