Okay,

I know little, but someone told me thats half the battle...

Problem, new system, my first attempt, does not find the SATA drive.....

Facts, Shuttle SFF, SB61G2, ( I know, some hate the SFF)
Seagate SATA 160 gb oem drive plugged into the first Sata plug
machine boots, runs, does not see the drive. Other posts advise to enable SATA in bios, I set the one SATA setting to enable, no change....dont know about drivers, nothing in their site about SATA drivers, the board offerd native support....

Any suggestions? What did I forget to mention? It is the normal AWARDS bios, I will install windows xp, it loads no HDD, fails, of course.....

Thanks for any help

What i had to do with my Shuttle SN85G4, when i installed a new sata maxtor 160g i reinstalled win xp, i gather your system is new?
When you reinstall win xp you need to hit f6 to install the raid driver, so you need to copy the latest raid drivers to floppy so it can access them, then when it comes to installing windows it can then see the hd on and the controller and you can select it for windows.
Im not sure if your shuttle comes with a floppy access on the front, mine didnt so i had cables hanging out the side everytime i need to reinstall win xp.
You did the correct thing by enabling sata in the bios, now you need to enable cdrom as first boot device and the second device as scsi/raid.
Before you save the settings and reboot make sure the win xp cdrom is in the cd/dvd drive, then save and restart.
When is says boot from cdrom hit a key, then it will go into the start of the install where you need to hit f6 as mentioned above.
Good luck, hope this has been helpfull to you.
