Signal strength drops to 1 bar?

So I just got a Linksys AE2500 wireless adapter, and when I first plug it in, it is at a solid 5 bars. (I got this new one because my old one kept disconnecting). However, after 20 seconds or so it drops down to 1 bar. my old adapter (TP-Link WN722N) stayed at a constant 4-ish bars. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's probably because something is interfering with the signal or it's just a crappy adapter.

Because wireless is over the air, anything else going over the air in the same frequency range can block your signal. This is why most people just used a wired connection unless they are forced into wireless.

The number of bars really means very little. Some manufacture fudge these to make their products look better...apple got caught.. Still there are so many things that affect the signals. The most obvious is the size of the antennas between the 2 you mention.

So, i was looking at speed, and when it is at 5 bars, it has about 150 mbps, then when it drops to 1 bar it has a max of around 5 mbps...

I also noticed every once and a while it jumps back up to 5 bars, but a minute later it goes back down to 2, and back to 5 mbps

It could be simple interference. All you can do is try to use other channels on your router. If you are using 2.4g try 5g or the reverse
