One machine gets pretty much the full gigabit, 950 down, consistently. Mine however, is strangely inconsistent, and only maxes out at 640. Sometimes its 300, sometimes 500. They are both connected via ethernet straight to the modem, it's not the ethernet cables, those were swapped and the results were the same. My speed is definitely not capped or anything, it's not like it's hard stuck at say 100 down indicative of a hardware problem. In the adapter settings I changed it from auto to gigabit, so the hardware seems capable. I'm not sure what's going on, any pointers?
