Signs of Faulty CPU

Im planning to build a new rig with second hand cpu and new mobo. How can i check if a cpu is failing

CPUs hardly ever fail unless they are physically damaged. They either work or they don't.
If you can boot with the CPU and not quickly crash or blue screen then it is good.

In all my years on Toms, I've seen a grand total of ONE CPU failure not the result of bent pins or overheating damage. And if a CPU is failing, it's VERY apparent from the get-go.

If you can get past POST and get into Windows, the CPU works. Pretty much that simple.
