I'm having problems getting my new KT7A/Duron 800MHz to boot. Basically it's powering everything up OK but the system is totally dead - nothing on monitor and no bleeps at all. Was thinking it was dead CPU (seems to be a lot lately). The only other thing is that I haven't got a keyboard to plug in at the moment - I'm just basically testing the system works OK until it arrives. Would not having a keyboard plugged in cause this boot problem? I would have thought it would get further into the boot and then tell me off. But I thought I better check first! :)
Thanks guys.

I know this sounds stupid but make sure your ram and grafics card are fully seated in the motherboard. I had the same thing happen to me with an abit vp6, I spent 2 days trying to figure out what was wrong and it turned out to be the ram wasn't fully seated. It was real hard pushing in the ram all the way, it felt as if it was going to break, but it didn't...

Also make sure your fan for the cpu is plugged into header #1, not header #2. I know that on certain revisions of the mobo it won't boot unless the fan is set this way.

Check your video card if it is fully seated
Check your memory if fully seated..

Then unplug all IDE cables and Floppy cables ( if any of those are plugged the wrong way it causes the board to not boot )...

Then get out any pci card beside video card ...

try to make it boot with only
1 - Memory
2 - CPU
3 - Video card

plugged on the board..

IF it doesn'T work then

1 - You have a bad cpu
or
2 - You have a bad motherboard
or
3 - You have a bad memory dimm ( if you have 2 dimm try only 1 at a time to make sure it's not 1 of them causing the machine not to boot ).
or
4 - You have a bad video card..
or
5 - Bad power supply... I hope you checked it was 300 W.. ( Not sure for DURON but for T-BIRD it's a required element ).
