Question Simple CPU question.

If a CPU is not in the socket if you pushed the power on switch, should nothing at all happen.

I know nothing would work without a CPU, but before getting the cpu I wanted to somehow test the motherboard to at least see if that was working before installing CPU.

So like a full on noob commander I pushed the power switch on, the power switch lit up and then went off. Nothing happened inside the case. Is this normal until it has a CPU in?

Generally, without the CPU nothing will work.
It has to be in, to get things fired up.

yes i dont think it will even POST without a CPU. so in my opinion you cannot test the board with out the cpu in the socket

No POST is assured without CPU, RAM and some kind of GPU, dedicated, in CPU or on MB.
