Simple fix to LCD monitor that loses power when moved?

I’ve got a Dell Monitor (E207WFP) that works well except when I move it; then the power goes, but comes right back when I push the power cord firmly into the base of the monitor. So, I thought it’s likely a loose connection, simple enough to fix.

But a local shop tell me that an LCD monitor isn’t worth fixing because you could replace it cheaper than the labor cost. He proved it by quoting me $135 minimum labor, and selling me a refurbished monitor for $89.

Not that long ago when such a problem occurred (albeit, on less complex appliances) it could be remedied by opening it up, finding the loose connection and fixing it—reconnecting, soldering, etc.

Having never opened up an LCD monitor, I’m wondering if a simple fix might be possible?

Sure sounds like it would be a simple fix but have you tried a different, tighter fitting cord?

Thanks for your response. I tried a new cord that seemed a bit tighter--same result. But the old cord didn't actually seem loose, so I'm guessing that moving the cord even slightly breaks a connection inside. I haven't tried taking it apart yet, but I suppose I should try that.
