So I just got a brand new harddrive today Seagate 1TB. Tried to install only to see that my gpu was blocking the only SATA ports on my motherboard. So I unscrewed and removed the GPU momentarily to make room. Plugged in the SATA for HDD, reinstalled GPU. Turned on the main power only to be greeted with the LEDs in my computer and a black screen monitor.

Not entirely sure where I went wrong. Everything was fine before I went to install this HDD. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I should also note. that when I turned the PC on for the first time with HDD today, it wouldn't turn back off using the front power switch. Even holding the power didn't work. I had use the PSU switch to get it to turn off.

Sweet btw years ago my first exposure to "tech" was in the beginnings of HiFi sound. You would not believe how many problems were solved with the question "is it plugged in or are the wires attached"? Some things never change. Happy Holidays to you also.

My 120Gb SSD is my boot drive. This HDD was meant for storage. I built this computer over a year ago and haven't really cracked it open since now, so i'm a bit rusty.

I'll try what you suggested.

Still no luck. I guess my next question is; is it safe to continue using the PSU power switch to turn off my system? seeing as the main power switch isnt working. I also noticed all of LEDs come on, fans kick in etc. Just nothing on screen. So that would rule out a PSU problem correct?
