Simple instructions to get up and running

I only just found out about Core Wars as it was mentioned in a book, and
being an asm nut i couldnt help but feel a strong attraction to the game
straight away! but with so many Core Wars sites out there, just getting
started is the hard part

Would somebody be kind enough to explain how to get a simple warrior vs
warrior game up and running? I've downloaded the Windows binaries, but dont
have any warrior source code (or compiled warriors ... im assuming they have
to be compiled? what do you compile them with?)

the best windows-based corewar emulator is Wendell's CoreWin. You can find it
here:

It includes also a nice graphic of the core displaying the progress of the
battle.

The best source for warriors is Christoph Birk's Koenigstuhl:

I also recomment Karonen's Beginner Guide to Corewar:

Thanks very much for those links,
Wendell's CoreWin is certainly a lot better and easier to use than the one I
was trying. It's very intuitive too - it comes with a set of warriors, and
within a minute or so after loading the program i had compiled some warriors
and had them fighting. This is going to be a _bad_ distraction from work
🙂
