which is faster 1 gb of pc1066 or 2gb of pc800, either costs about the same. No flaming please!!!
I'm married for one and two I'm building a gaming network and need every spare computer old and new

For the same price, the two gigs of 800mhz. RAM is your better 'deal'. A lot of PC6400 will clock to near PC8500 speeds if need be. All PC8500 DIMMS would have to be set up in BIOS to run at 1066mhz. All 1066mhz. PC8500 RAM is simply overclockable PC6400 800mhz. DIMMS. The two gigs are better than the one in your situation.

Two Gb's would allow you to run dual channel which is faster than single channel even if only slightly. And depending on what function you are doing with your system, having two GB's of system memory as opposed to one GB would increase system performance in many instances. So, same price? 2gigs are better than one. HTH.

Mountedpatrolman is talking about pc1066 vs pc800 (both of these are RDRAM) not pc2 8500 vs pc2 6400 (which is DDR2 SDRAM).

I'd go for the 2 gig sticks also since they're the same price (how much are you spending on the memory and how much do you have in your mobo right now). it might be better to build a new system which would be lots faster for not much more money.

I was thinking right now 1 gb of RDRAM was about $300. if you can find it for $100 I'd go for it, but I wouldn't pay much more for it.

???

the title of the thread is "a simple RDRAM question". I'm pretty sure he's talking about RDRAM which is pc800 or pc1066

im actually looking to sell some rd ram, even though i only have 768mb of it. 2x 256 and 2x128. the dell it was in has a broken mobo.

In simple terms, more memory is always better than faster memory in my experience.

but also depends on the games, xp or vista, etc..

I would take the 2GIG pc6400 800MHZ ....

Having 1 gig of 1066 is like having a Ferrari with no front tires…

*** You wouldn’t notice too much difference between 2 gig 800 or 2 gig 1066, no question it be faster… milliseconds faster!

you can build a MUCH faster computer with 2 gig memory, bigger/faster hard drive, dual core proc, dvd burner and a mid range graphics card... pretty much the works for $400.

you can buy 2 x 1gb sticks of ddr2 for like $40 bucks now.

mobo, cpu, ddrII ram will be under $200. Id gut it and change it. If that RDRAM fails your gonna be out $200 again where as DDRII fails and its under warranty for life like corsair or crucial you wont be out anything but shipping.
