I've been away for a while. Is there a mostly Sims 1 newsgroup or forum?
Thanks

Nope, this one has evolved as some would say, and since Sims 1 is now old
school, not many even bother to preface their posts. It was bound to happen.

However there are still a few of us stubborn people around so you aren't
alone ;-)

Welcome back, and have fun wading through the unmarked posts!

With the big Sims2 release, we're seeing a lot of S2 traffic. S1 is
still totally on topic, and is still posted on.

If you have a S1-specific post, mark it [Sims1] so we can find it
easily. We've requested that [Sims2] be marked as well, but we get so
many new people who have only played S2 that it's not effective.

Thanks Lib for letting me know I'm not the only "old school" diehard out
there :) Sims 1 is just getting good in my opinion.
I'm sure there are many simmers who never bother with usenet and yet somehow
this newsgroup always seemed like "sims central" to me. Sims 2 posts are
entertaining and instructive (someday I'll get it too ) but when I came back
and saw all the political posts on top of the sims confusion, I really
wondered what had happened.

I don't even see those posts anymore--I forgot they were happening. I
killfile each of those threads as soon as they start, and the posts
never show up for me. There's enough to wade through with
Sims-related posts--I can't even keep up!

Hadn't occurred to me... I can't killfile by thread unfortunately, only
sender or subject. I guess if it's the same ppl over and over I could
killfile them.

Most newsreaders will allow you to at least mark the thread ignored, and
then you can just hide it from view. That's what I do 😉

Surely by thread and by subject are the same thing.

I'm an idjit. Yes, they are the same thing.

But in experimenting I think I'm going to stick with killfiling people, then
no matter what subject line they use it's taken care of and I don't have to
fill up my killfile with more and more subject lines. It does seem to be
just a limited number of posters who believe freedom of speech means you
don't have to be considerate.

I could make a Sim like that. Maybe a housefull. Hmmm. I have created a
spammer sim and nigerian scammer sim -- they are intended to fall in love
and marry.
