Sims 2 problem

When I am in the game and decide to save, my computer totally locks up and i
have 2 crash it. This is really annoying as whenever i go back i have 2
start afresh. I have disabled all my virus checkers and firewalls as its
suggests in the book and my computer is better than the spec it needs.Can
anoybody suggest why this is happening and how i can stop it!
