Hello everybody,

I have innstalled Sims2 as an admin in WinXp on a HP Omnibook XE3-GF.
It works fine when your in the admin user account, but it doesn't work
at my daughters user account.
I get an "Unspesified error" message at startup.

Anyone got a clue?

I think everyone is having this problem. I am too! I guess EA Games doesn't like
the idea of making it multiplayed for such a big game.

But I have a feeling they will release a patch sometime in the future due to
popular request.

I've had no problems with it...

My son plays it, and he has a limited account.

*shrug*

I think it will work if you use Fat32 but not if you use NTFS.

If you use NTFS then you have to play using an admin user account.

I'm using XP - NTFS.

I play via admin, and he plays via limited. Works fine...

As admin, check that the folders where the game is installed are shared.
You should be able to right click on any folder and inspect its
properties.

Sims 2 is installed in Program Files which naturally is shared. Microsoft Office
and other games works so why not Sims 2? :/

FAT32 is a bad idea.... Your kids could get to your files that way...you
also lose quite a few more abilities ... but if you have no security
concerns then .. well.. I still would not...

The game uses (or at least checks) some folders that lie (hidden, by
default) under My Documents. Sim City 4 does this too, but none of my
other games. Could this have something to do with it? Many humans are
reluctant to share their "My Documents" folder.
